Omega Seamaster Professional 300M Diver Chronometer Review (2594.52.00)

Grades:
Looks, Physical design, construction, fit/finish: A (would be A+ if the buckle didn't scratch so easily).
Functionality: B (not full of features, but enough to be handy).
Best features:
Looks: 41.5mm case is just the right size, stylish red subdial hands contrast beautifully with the black dial.
Comfort: extraordinarily comfortable on the wrist. Angles of the case form fit to the contours of the wrist bones and the bracelet is very flexible.
Clasp: incredible clasp. Double-button. Never has come undone by accident, but is very easy to take off. Easy to micro-adjust with a toothpick.
Charge: mechanical charge lasts well over 48 hours, in line with Omega specification on 52 hours.
Worst features:
Can't really think of any.
Summary:
I've been wearing this watch for almost 2 years and apart from the buckle, which most people don't see anyway, it looks like new. I've been swimming in the ocean, I've dropped it on the floor, I've hit the crystal with tools, cutlery and more and all I have to show for that is a an imperceptible scratch on the bezel.
In the dark the 300M really rocks and you can tell it was made with divers in mind. It's really bright. Very bright. The hands glow in a very cool light fluorescent green hue for hours in the dark. It's really quite something.
In terms of functionality, it's a pretty basic watch but it has a very accurate chronometer with split capability.
Where the Omega 300M hits top marks for me is in comfort. It's a heavy watch and quite thick, but it doesn't feel like it on the wrist. The bracelet is super flexible, doesn't pinch hairs and is extremely solid. None of the pins have ever bent. The double-button clasp is really easy to undo, yet it never comes undone by itself... ever.
The final comment I would make about this watch is that it serves an all-around purpose. I've worn it to formal events, I wear it at work, I play sports with it and pretty much anything else...except sleep, I'm not that obsessed. The black bezel, black dial on stainless steel gives this watch a refined elegance that makes it suitable for any occasion.
I'd also have to say that the price tag is very reasonable for an entry-level Omega watch. While I won't divulge how much was paid for mine (it was a gift), a good deal would be in the $2,000 range. So it's obviously not cheap, but I know that this watch will definitely outlast me and it's a piece to start a collection.
If you're looking to buy an Omega watch, I would definitely recommend this one as a great starting point.
Thanks for reading.
